This is one fo the most coveted guitars in history after setting three world records at auction for Kurt Cobain’s original for the highest price paid for a guitar, highest price paid for memorabilia and highest price paid for Kurt Cobain/ Nirvana memorabilia. It is now up there in the desirability stakes with the Gibson Korina Explorer and Flying V from 1958, Les Paul Burst from this time period and ’50’s and early ’60’s Fender’s. This guitar had a very limited 1 to 2 year total production run of 302 instruments, dreadnought body, solid spruce top, mahogany sides and back, 2 factory installed DeArmond pick ups, kluson tuners, great condition for age, action is fine. Famously used by Kurt Cobain on tour and on Nirvana’s famous MTV unplugged in New York appearance. The last model guitar Kurt ever played and part of Frances Bean Cobain lawsuit with Isiah Silva. This has now been settled, Isiah Silva sold this guitar through Juliens Auctions in Beverly Hills for a recording breaking $6,010,000. This makes this exact model officially the most expense guitar ever sold.

The guitar sounds exactly like the Nirvana MTV in Unplugged album, a truly beautiful sounding rare guitar. The first tone knob closest to the sound hole controls the tone of the neck pick up, the middle is the overall volume control and the tone knob to the the right controls the tone of the bridge pick up, giving the guitar great tonal variety. The guitar comes complete with its original case made by TKL, quite possibly the finest cases in the world with gorgeous green plush lining.

The guitar is in great condition for its age. With such an irresistible player such as this it has been played as you would expect, with it’s fair share of dings and small scratches, but it holds up well and is a true testament to the build quality of Martin guitars it is in wonderful shape with only the finest quality woods and materials used. It has a beautiful red pearloid to the edge bindings and red pearloid pickguard. The tuners are still as good as the day they were made and the electronics are working as they should. It has a rich and deep tone and a lot of character. The pick ups have a great sound and combined with an amp this guitar takes it to another level. You can see why Kurt Cobain chose this guitar for his MTV unplugged set with Nirvana and to use on the In Utero tour in 1993. It was his go to acoustic guitar that he also took home with him and was the last guitar he ever played.

A truly special guitar and very desirable and beyond rare.
