Epiphone ET-270 Vintage 1970’s Cherry Burst Kurt Cobain Nirvana Guitar

Out of stock

Here for sale is a rare 1970’s Epiphone ET-270 in a gorgeous Cherry Burst made famous by Kurt Cobain of Nirvana on the Bleach era of the band. Other notable players include Billy Idol who has used these live and in music videos. The guitar is a bit like a Strat Gibson SG hybrid and has a very distinct sound and produces other worldly feedback when cranked up. Check out the Nirvana Live at Pine Street Theatre in Portland Oregon on the Sub Pop Bleach reissue to hear this guitar wailing away in all its glory. The guitar has one volume one and one tone control, and a bass boost switch for extra bass enhancement and a three way selector switch in a convenient location on the bottom of the pick guard. All the electronics are workings they should.

The guitar has some other interesting features such as the bass boost switch to give some more welly and nice retro control knobs that are period correct but may not be original. Two of the machine cog wheels on the back of the tuners have been replaced as the originals had worn out. The guitar has also had a new nut installed as the original had cracks in it. The handy knob position was used to great effect by Cobain on Bleach track ‘Big Cheese’ Where you can hear him fading the intro chords using the volume knob which is very easy to access with your lower fingers on this guitar. The guitar was made in Japan. The guitar is in good condition for its age, with the odd chip or ding but this just gives it more rock ‘n’ roll character. The guitar also has the E on the black single ply pick guard which was the same as Kurt’s and also the E on the truss rod cover. An all around great guitar that looks bad ass and sounds fantastic. Just love this finish!
