Here for sale is Fender Mustang from 1966 that features the original 1966 body and matching neck and was restored by us here at Guitarsmith Custom.
This Fender Mustang from 1966 was originally red and was refinished Olympic White a long time ago, so much so that the refinish now has finish checking and tons of roadworn character. Where there is dings and such you can see the original red finish underneath, it looks like something the Fender Custom Shop would turn out but this is the real deal. The olympic white is accentuated by a custom made vintage correct Red Tortoise shell pick guard with a stunning marbled tortoise design. The guitar was previously routed for a humbucker in the bridge position so we went with this and installed a Seymour Duncan TB-4 (JB with the Fender string spacing) Trembucker in the zebra finish. The mixture of black and off white coils really add to the look of this glorious guitar. The neck pick up is a Seymour Duncan Mustang Myth Neck pick up with a matching off white cover to complete the look. The guitar features original Fender Mustang 1966 tuners. It has Goldo 500K pots and an orange drop capacitor and features genuine Fender Mustang bridge, tremolo assembly, tremolo arm, control plate and control knobs. It has switch craft slider switches where we kept the Zebra theme running with an off white switch craft selector switch from a Fender Jag Stang for the neck pick up and a black switchcraft switch for the humbucker. This combo of pick ups sound hot and rockin’ and as a side note was the pick up of choice for tons of great plays and Kurt Cobain had these installed in all his Mustangs.
This vintage Mustang also benefits from a modern Fender bridge assembly and a Fender bridge for modern tuning stability with a shiny and new appearance. The tremolo function on the bridge is working and is controlled by official Fender Mustang tremolo arm as we have only used official Fender hardware on this guitar no expense was spared. You can select the bridge only, neck only, both pick ups together or in or out of phase, and adjusted with the volume and tone control knobs.
This ’66 Mustang has an absolutely superb neck which has all the feel and beauty of a vintage Fender neck from the golden era. It has a nice C shape profile with a 7.25” fretboard radius. The frets have plenty of life left in them and this guitar features the highly coveted ’60’s Rosewood which has amazing texture and resonance. The classic Fender and Mustang logo’s are there. The guitar also has a Fender ‘F’ stamped neck plate on the back like the original. This Fender Mustang is amazingly light weight and comfortable weighs approximately 3.275KG.
This is a truly stunning vintage Fender Mustang from 1966 and is highly desirable in the Olympic White finish with a modern spin with the Zebra humbucker in the bridge. A wondrous guitar to play, hold or even just look at and is from our new Guitarsmith custom department.
