The guitar is truly breathtaking to play, probably the best electric guitar we have ever played. Its craftsmanship is outstanding. With a diving sound, everything you could hope for. The guitar has been well looked after, and has play wear as you would expect from such an unbelievable guitar. You simply won’t want to put it down. There is light scratch in the finish just below the bridge, a couple on the back and a series of tiny marks on the back on the lower half of the body. Bear in mind the DG-335’s are finished in Nitro Cellulose so they are designed to age and wear in when played so the natural marks that occur are the stages a guitar goes through on its way to have the beautiful vintage finish in years to come. With the nitro finish being thinner than poly urethane the tone comes through from the guitar adding to its incendiary tone. The guitar is nicely weighted, has a comfortable neck, cool diamond inlays, beautiful finish and the sound! Just wow! You can see why this has been Dave Grohl’s go to guitar for a number of years.

The ebony version is the rarest of the three colours. Dave has played the ebony version in many performances over the years most notably at the 2007 Live at Wembley Concert where he played an ebony one for the encore of Everlong. He also plays the ebony one when jamming with Chevy Metal, the Holy Shits and other surprise performances and also features in his current Foo Fighters touring guitars. He was also photographed recently for GQ and chose his Ebony DG-335 guitar for the photos.

Foo Fighters have increased in popularity with each passing year, and Dave Grohl is a true torch bearing for rock ‘n’ roll and is undisputedly one of the greats. The initial run of the DG-335 guitars are the only ones to feature Dave Grohl’s actual autograph inside the booklet, and unless you are lucky enough to get an autograph from Dave Grohl in person, it is one of the only ways to know you are getting a genuine Dave Grohl autograph. You could even frame the book with a nice photo for a complimentary piece to the guitar.

This is a once in a lifetime guitar and the ebony is exceptionally rare, only 200 were made as opposed to 200 Pelham blue on the initial run then another 200 in 2014 making the total 400 for Pelham blue and 400 metallic gold were also made 2014. The Gibson DG-335 is a truly outstanding guitar.

This new guitar is inspired by Grohl’s much loved Trini Lopez signature model. The new model, created by the artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop with the input of Grohl himself, will provide rock fans a chance to channel the Foo Fighters’ renowned lead singer. The Trini Lopez model was a striking take on Gibson’s classic ES-335 semi-hollow body guitar which is a hybrid between a solid body and a hollow body. Grohl has a particular love for the Trini Lopez in a rare Pelham Blue color that was used by the Gibson Custom Shop in producing this limited model.

Grohl’s Inspired By DG-335 has the classic Firebird-style headstock with six-on-a-side tuners set into an ES-335 style semi-hollow body. The body of the guitar has stylish diamond f-holes and a double cutaway design. The inlays on the rosewood fretboard are acrylic split diamond which is a unique feature that remains from the original Trini Lopez model. Grohl’s taste is even expressed through the pickups which are Burstbucker 1 in the neck and Burstbucker 2 in the bridge. These pickups are within the original Patent Applied For humbucking spec, known for their ability to create clean and articulate distortion and responsible for helping to deliver the amazing tones that Grohl has become famous for while fronting the ever popular Foo Fighters. Each guitar includes a Custom Shop case and special certificate of authenticity signed by Grohl himself.
